Patient and Caregiver Training

Patients and their caregivers need training to stay out of the hospital and recover at home.  People with respiratory disorders are some of the most vulnerable to pneumonia, lung infections, and disease complications.  They may have many other medical problems, require frequent hospitalizations and unscheduled doctor visits, and their medication usage may be high.

It is very important that those who care for respiratory patients are well trained and competent in the skills required to support their loved ones.

The Respiratory Care Practitioners of Select Respiratory Services train patients with breathing a-1-home-care-black-caregiverdisorders, their families, and their caregivers.  Here are just a few examples of the things we can help you learn:

  • Breath sounds
  • Infection control
  • Oxygen management
  • Ventilator management
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Aerosolized medications
  • Oral, nasal, and tracheal suctioning
  • Care and maintenance of medical equipment

Our Respiratory Therapists are available to come to your home and train you and your caregivers at the bedside.  We also provide training in group settings such as conference rooms and community centers.
