President: Victoria Florentine, BA, RRT, CCM, AE-C

The chance to help the sick was a natural choice for Victoria Florentine, whose father became gravely ill with heart and lung disease when he was thirty-five years old.  JCP Chest Shot brownish background WebAs early as age ten, Victoria called for the ambulance, kept her mother and four siblings calm and quiet, and held her father’s hand until help arrived.  Although her father did not live long enough to see it, Victoria dedicated her life to guiding those with chronic cardiopulmonary diseases toward a higher quality of life and greater longevity.

Victoria began her healthcare career as an Emergency Medical Technician, drove an ambulance for ten years, and served on the Board of Directors for the largest volunteer ambulance squad in the United States.  After the birth of her children, she became a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).  For the first few years, she worked in a large Florida hospital, but her first love has always been the care of the chronically ill.  Over the last 28 years, Victoria developed and implemented pulmonary rehabilitation programs for numerous clients, co-owned a geriatric rehabilitation clinic, developed a health education department for an HMO, managed respiratory therapists in sub-acute facilities and home care companies, and taught respiratory therapy to college students. She is the founder of Select Respiratory Services.

Victoria strongly believes in being proactive rather than reactive when it comes to one’s health.

Victoria has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and holds certifications as a Case Manager (CCM), Asthma Educator (AE-C), Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Trainer, and American Lung Association Smoking Cessation Counselor.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Case Management Society of America, Sacramento Chapter, and is active on the national level as well. Victoria is an expert in program development, business development, multidisciplinary team management, rehabilitation, and care of the chronically ill.  She has appeared on radio and television, written books and articles, and spoken on the national stage on the prevention and care of chronic lung diseases.

With a focus on the physical, mental, and spiritual health of the whole person, Victoria strongly believes in being proactive rather than reactive when it comes to one’s health.  She is a well-known, outspoken advocate for those with chronic diseases and their families.  Her goal is to empower her patients with the knowledge and tools they need to enjoy the highest quality of life and keep their disease processes under control.
